She is a Professor of Sociology at the University of San Francisco and affiliated with the Centro de Estudos Sociais of the University of Coimbra (Portugal). She has published extensively on the Brazilian WPS and related topics in both English and Portuguese. This includes her Ph.D. dissertation in Sociology on the WPS and a forthcoming (2007) updated and translated version in Portuguese. She has also made numerous presentations in academic and non-academic forums internationally. She has been involved in the Women and Policing Project since its inception.
