A group of researchers and activists from various parts of the continent first got together in 2001 to discuss and analyze women’s police stations (WPS) in the region. Since then the network has grown and we have shared studies regarding violence against women and the work and impact of the women’s police stations in the various countries.

The organizations involved in this research project are non-governmental and academic centres renowned for their studies of violence against women, gender and women’s rights, as well as the WPS.
