Secretos bien guardados. Maltrato, violencia y abuso sexual vs. derechos. Una mirada desde los y las jóvenes. Quito: CEPAM, 2003. |
Taking for a point of departure the perceptions of Ecuadorian youths of both genders, the author analyses the issues of sexual abuse, domestic maltreatment and violence against women in Ecuador. Contrasts are drawn between regions, ethnic groups and social classes, all from a rights and citizenship perspective. These are subjects that have received scant attention in gender studies and in terms of court cases and clear policies as concerns prevention and attention to such cases. As the author points out, these are "well-kept secrets that need to be studied more systematically." |
