Katia has a BA in anthropology from the Catholic University of Ecuador and an MA in social science with a major in gender studies from FLACSO-Ecuador. She has far-reaching experience on the subjects of gender, migrations, cultural diversity, identity and development. Katia has provided technical assistance, prepared research / action proposals and facilitated education and training processes regarding women’s rights from a gender and interculturality approach. She studied the issue of violence against women in her research and training work among indigenous and campesino communities, the education sector, groups of development organisations and women’s police stations. Katia has also designed and produced education programmes, and published a number of books and articles on gender, identity and interculturality.
